Classic J-Pop duo return
They were one of the first contemporary J-Pop acts to break through to the West – and did so with an amazing catalogue of great tunes. Now Puffy are returning with a new single titled ‘Tomodachi no Wao!’ scheduled for release this May.
It’s been a busy time for Puffy recently – they released their special Best Of album titled 15 last year. This double CD album featured not only a collection of the outfit’s singles, but also an extra disc of special choice album tracks and collaborations. It also marked the return of the talents of Rodney Alan Greenblat on sleeve art duties.
In other good news, Yumi has announced that she’s expecting her first child this Summer. Yumi has said she’s a bit nervous, but also plans to continue with her music career in the meantime.
Puffy are also due to perform at the 20th Anniversary commemoration of Ki/oon Records in Tokyo later this month.
But in the meantime, Puffy have new single ‘Tomodachi no Wao!’ scheduled for released on May 23rd. The song is being used as the ending theme for the Japanese children’s TV show Shimajiro no Wao! which is due to premiere this month.
The single has been co-written by producer Ishino Takkyu and will be available in both regular and limited edition versions.
