Description
Die Milch are a Japanese music outfit specialising in a particular baroque pop style. As Die Milch’s founder and vocalist Coco puts it: “I love Lolita and there’s no such music that suits this fashion. So I thought I’d make some genre or music that suits this fashion. That’s the origin of Die Milch”.
Amongst the influences for Die Milch are such diverse acts as Malice Mizer and violinist Emilie Autumn. The end result is stylish gothic pop tunes with a strong sense of both classical and contemporary musical touches.
Here, their 3-track EP boasts the likes of title track ‘Mama’ – another of Die Milch’s secret weapons. With its driving strings-based tune the song barrels along at a pace with a distinctly military-inspired rhythm. Coupled with a fiercely infectious melody, ‘Mama’ is a distinctive Lolita-fuelled tune. Then it’s straight into the equally zippy ‘It’s Necessary’ and evocative instrumental track ‘fear…’ rounds things out.
