TOMOYASU HOTEI is keeping busy with a new concert scheduled for this November.
Following on from last years Roundhouse performance, HOTEI will be playing the 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday 9th November 2013.
Since HOTEI’s decision to move to the UK he’s been keeping busy, particularly with the release of new album Come Rain Come Shine. Last year he made a surprise appearance at HYPER JAPAN and dazzled the crowds with his unique and particular guitar skills with a rendition of his most well-known song ‘Battle Without Honour or Humanity’ (featured in the film Kill Bill). J-Pop Go also interviewed HOTEI as part of our HYPER JAPAN coverage.
HOTEI has enjoyed a long music career which spans over 30 years, including being part of popular Japanese rock outfit BOØWY (David Bowie is one of Hotei’s inspirations, hence the band name). He’s also happy to expand and experiment with a range of musical styles as demonstrated by his work with popular idol outfit MOMOIRO CLOVER Z on their 2012 single release Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi Yo. His long music career also has other surprising collaborations to reveal – HOTEI was apparently responsible for using his guitar to create the distinctive “chirp” of the Ohmu from the classic Hayao Miyazaki anime Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
HOTEI’s new album Come Rain Come Shine is currently out and available via online outlets such as iTunes and Amazon.
The Shepherd’s Bush Empire concert will continue to seal HOTEI’s position as one of Japan’s best known musical stars – and also one of the world’s greatest guitarists.
