Next month sees a Japanese cultural event taking place in Leicester featuring music, manga, food, workshops and fun!
The JAPANORAMA event will be staged at the National Space Centre in Leicester and takes place over the weekend of 4th-5th May. Among the treats lined up will be a performance by BECKII CRUEL as well as music from OISHII! ICHIGO.
The event also has a TAMASHII performing energetic Taiko Drumming pieces from the Hokuriku region of Japan, Manga artists such as Sweatdrop Studio’s Hayden Scott-Baron and Laura Watton, Jodie Azhar, Chie Kutsuwada and Emma Viecelli. Graphic Artist Lee Sullivan has a display of his work from the Transformers comic. The event will also host a Cosplay Competition.
Japanese food is also a feature of the event with Yuki’s Kitchen – in which professional Japanese chef and food writer Yuki will be taking to the stage to demonstrate how to make simple yet stunning Japanese food. Nice Shave, Ice Shave specialise in shave-ice desserts known as Kakigōri in Japan. Kitaya Wagashi Japanese Bakery will be setting up on Saturday providing Japanese and fusion wagashi & sweets from their workshops in London & Tokyo. Kwoklyn Wan and his Urban Martial Arts colleagues will be demonstrating their amazing skills daily, as well as offering “have a go” sessions for adults and children.
JAPANORAMA will also be screening the acclaimed film The Woodsman and the Rain during the weekend, courtesy of Third Window Films.
JAPANORAMA takes place on 4th-5th May at the National Space Centre in Leicester.
