The LONDON AND ANIME GAMING CON has its first event of 2015 next weekend – and J-Pop Go will be on DJ duties for the Saturday night.
The LAGC combines a love of anime, gaming, cosplay and Japanese pop culture for 2 days of action-packed events. Here’s a little briefing on what to expect next weekend:
SCARLETT YOUNG
Talented singer SCARLETT YOUNG needs little introduction. Winner of the UK Kawaii Star contest at Hyper Japan in 2011 and participant on Japanese TV show Nodojiman The World in 2013, Scarlett is also a member of UK outfit Oishii!Ichigo and MK Dance Group.
Scarlett also performs solo at a broad range of UK events with her renditions of songs from popular anime. She delivers a compelling version of what’s become one of her signature tunes, ‘Lion’ (from Macross Frontier) as well as classics such as ‘Zankoku na Tenshi no These’ (from Neon Genesis Evangelion) and dabbling with other anime titles such as Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. A highlight of her performance at last year’s Hyper Japan Christmas Market was her take on the perky ‘Lum’s Love Song’ from Urusei Yatsura.
Scarlett will be performing on Sunday at LAGC.
KLEPTOPENGUIN
Andy Lee aka KLEPTOPENGUIN is a UK performer who embraces a multitude of talents, including singing, keyboards, dancing and MCing, Andy has also clocked up a number of awards for his performances, including the Megan Lee Destiny Cover Contest Winner 2011, London Anime Con Talent Show Winner 2014 and Moshi Moshi Nippon! LIVEDAM Karaoke Contest UK Winner 2014.
At HYPER JAPAN’s Christmas Market 2014, Andy performed as KleptoPenguin and also collaborated with several of the other acts, including MK and Kelsey Ellison. As Kleptopenguin, Andy will be be performing at LAGC this Saturday.
THE WISH SISTERS
Having made their debut at Hyper Japan last year, new dance outfit THE WISH SISTERS will be performing on Saturday at LAGC.
The Wish Project consists of a group of 5 girls: Alice, Hana, Honey, Amelia and Elizabeth, all of which have a mantra of “Dancing and singing our way to your hearts”. As a trio, The Wish Sisters performances certainly deliver on that sentiment. Their confident stage presence and smart choreography at Hyper Japan provided some notable performances, including an interpretation of ‘START:DASH!!’ from Love Live!, which won them some new fans.
Also expect the girls to encourage the audience to join in the fun with a wotagei demonstration.
CRISTINA VEE & CHRISTINE MARIE CABANOS
Cristina Vee has voiced over 100 characters in both animation and video games including Mio Akiyama in K-ON!, Alisa Bosconovitch in Tekken Blood Vengeance, Homura Akemi in Madoka Magica, Morgiana in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, the eleven Honoka sisters in Netflix’s Knights of Sidonia, Cubone (and others) in Pokemon Origins and Riruka Dokugamine in Bleach. She was recently announced as the new voice of Sailor Mars in her favorite show, Sailor Moon!
